Student Success Stories.

They wanted more than a 9 to 5 — travel, adventure, good money, and no desk in sight. Yachting looked like the dream, but breaking in? That’s where it got messy. No roadmap. No connections. Just a sea of advice and pricey courses.

Maiden Voyage helped cut through the noise with real talk, clear steps, and the kind of support that actually gets you hired. But this wasn’t a free ride — our students showed up curious, committed, and ready to hustle. Now? They’re out there, doing it

Deckhand

Josh

Keen, Focused, and Ready to Work

Josh came to Maiden Voyage with a clear and determined mindset. He knew yachting wasn’t just about ticking boxes — it was about using time, energy, and money wisely. By asking the right questions and trusting the process, he turned a dream into a real job. Curious and proactive, Josh proved that with the right support, even a tough industry becomes accessible.

"Maiden Voyage is a great tool to bridge the gap from an outsider trying to join the sometimes hard-to-penetrate, elusive industry, giving great insight and knowledge of what yachts are specifically looking for. Maiden Voyage also has great connections around the industry, placing you in great hands with an insider's edge, even from the outside.

What excites me about Maiden Voyage is the synergy it creates between an aspiring yachtie and the reality of landing the dream gig. Getting into this industry is all about who you know, not what you know. Unfortunately, the reality of yachting is that it's a seafaring industry, and there are lots of hoops to jump through to prove you can make it at sea. Only people with industry knowledge and experience can point you in the right direction as to which tickets and certificates you need, what is excess, and what is 'fluffy' to fluff your CV up. And that's where I believe Maiden Voyage will benefit you on your own journey.

Maiden Voyage will bring you in the loop, providing you with an edge you wouldn't otherwise get. This is the pre-industry introduction and preparation you need to kickstart your career in this rewarding, fulfilling industry"

Stewardess

Ivy

Curiosity That Paid Off

vy first heard about Maiden Voyage through a friend while working in the south of France. Yachting was always on her radar, but she wasn’t sure how to start. What set her apart was her curiosity and commitment — she asked great questions, stayed the course, and took everything on board. Originally from Perth, Ivy landed her first role as a junior stewardess, and we’re proud to have been part of her journey.

“I first heard about Maiden Voyage during a two-year overseas stay living and working in the south of France. A few friends already working in yachting recommended it, and since I love to travel, see new places, and learn new skills, I was really interested in giving it a go.

From the start, Maiden Voyage stood out because they didn’t just tell me what I wanted to hear. Sometimes I got advice that was tough to hear, but it was honest and based on real experience, and that’s what helped me most. The support they offer fills a big gap for people like me who found the yachting world overwhelming at first. It made the whole process feel manageable, and the guidance was clear and practical every step of the way.

What I really like about Maiden Voyage is their genuine passion and real understanding of the journey since they’ve been through it themselves. I’d recommend them to anyone starting out in yachting. I’m excited to see Maiden Voyage grow and help more people like me find their place in yachting. It’s helped me start a career I love.”

Deckhand

Daniel

The kind of student we love to work with.

Daniel didn’t come to Maiden Voyage expecting a job — he came looking for direction. He wanted to know how to give himself the best shot, and he took the process seriously from day one. With the right mindset, he listened, asked questions, and did the work. That attitude helped him land his first job on a 51-metre world cruising yacht — proof that with support and commitment, you can go far.

“I’m Daniel, a deckhand from South Africa, and I’ve been in the yachting industry for just over three years now. When I first decided to give yachting a go, I had no idea how hard it would be. I didn’t know anyone in the industry, the training was expensive, and I was up against hundreds of people all trying to land the same few jobs. It was a lot.

That’s where Maiden Voyage came in. They helped me figure out where to start, what to focus on, and how to actually stand out. From putting together my CV to preparing for interviews, they made sure I had everything in place before I even booked my flight. Because of that support, I got my first job on a 51-meter yacht that travelled through the Philippines, Japan, and Alaska. Looking back, I can’t imagine trying to do all that on my own—it would’ve taken me twice as long to get my foot in the door.

For anyone coming from outside Europe or without connections in the industry, having someone guide you through those early steps makes a massive difference. Maiden Voyage did that for me.”

He valued Maiden Voyage’s practical, no-nonsense support—from crafting a strong CV to interview prep and knowing the key certifications. “My name is Brad, and I know how challenging it can be to break into the yachting industry - especially as green crew trying to land that first deckhand job without prior experience or connections.

The support goes beyond generic advice, offering practical tools like CV development, interview preparation, and clear guidance on which certifications actually matter.
